Hello Farhaa,
Your question is not very clear/precise....Iam answering on
the assumption that you are talking about Mobile Protocol
stack.A mobile protocol stack consists of the following
layers.
Physical layer,
L2- lapd,
L3-Radio Resourse,Mobility Management and Call Control,
Application Layer.
In order to test the protocol stack we can use network
simulators like Agilent,Racal,CMU etc.
An example of the senarios that can be tested using the
simulator are the different types of handover,frequency
hopping,full rate ,half rate,cell selection/reselection etc.

Application on Mobile ur Using:
Ex IMS Client Application :SIP,RTP,RTCP,TCP,UDP
Answer to the first qustion: Whether it is Text or file
based Protocol or not, If It is text based Protocol We Can
Use Device Logs, Ethereal Traces,
