The name India has been derived by the Britishers from the river Indus. One of the greatest civilization of the world namely Indus Valley Civilization existed along the banks of the river Indus (Sindhu in Hindi) and the name India is not a short form of Independent Nation Declared In August and the only logical reason is, that had the name India is a short form of Independent Nation Declared In August then it certainly will not be having a place in the name of the company which was formed by the Britishers when they came to India, initially for doing business and the name of their company is
East India Company
and at the advent of the Britishers to India they were not having any authority to declare anything in India. Moreover Britishers ruled over India for 200 years and no one can predict as to in which month of which year, a nation, over which one is having a rule, will become independent.
