A train speeds past a pole in 15 seconds and a platform 100 m long in 25 seconds. Its length is..

Answer / sindu.m

The answer is 150m.
Let the length of the train be x metres and its speed by y
m/sec.

Then,
x/y = 15 => y = x/15 .
Therefore
(x + 100)/25 = x/15
=> 15(x + 100) = 25x
=> 15x + 1500 = 25x
=> 1500 = 10x
=> x = 150 m.

A train speeds past a pole in 15 seconds and a platform 100 m long in 25 seconds. Its length is..

Answer / ashutosh

we conclude that 10 seconds is used to travel 100 m, sppeed
id 10m/s, (total time to pass pole)*(speed) is its length
means 150 m

A train speeds past a pole in 15 seconds and a platform 100 m long in 25 seconds. Its length is..

Answer / sabih

if we consider the length of the train to be x meters and the speed of the train be ykm/h then the time taken by the train to cross the electric pole =x/y which equals 15(given).now as we proceed ,we know that the length of the platform is 100 meters so,
100+x/25=x/15
15(x+100)=25x
15x+1500=25x
15x-25x=1500
-10x=1500
x=-150 meters,
which we can consider as 150 meters.

A train speeds past a pole in 15 seconds and a platform 100 m long in 25 seconds. Its length is..

Answer / rohit singh

Let the length of the train is x meter and Speed of the train is y meter/second
Then x/y = 15 [because distance/speed = time]
=> y = 15/x

=>(x+100)/25=x/15
x=150 meters

So length of the train is 150 meters

A train speeds past a pole in 15 seconds and a platform 100 m long in 25 seconds. Its length is..

Answer / binesh nambiar c

Length of the platform
is 100m. So the train
needs to traval 200m
to cover the station
(when the train travals
100m its fully inside
the station)

it took 25s to cover
this distance. So speed
of train is
200m/25s=8m/s

consider pole dont
have width or consider
it as a point

train took 15 second to
cover that

so length of train=8m/
s*15s=120m
