Answer / swapna
Group of glycosphingolipids are the gangliosides. They
compose a chemically and structurally diverse group of
neuronal cell membranes. They are important in membrane
turn over mechanisms through recycling of plasma membrane
through the lysosomal compartments (endocytosis).
These occur in brain, in neuronal membranes Aside from
this, they occur at low levels in all animal tissues where
like the neutral oligoglycosphingolipids they are
concentrated in 'rafts' in the plasma membrane.

Answer / r.rajani
Ganglioside is a compound composed of a glycosphingolipid
(ceramide and oligosaccharide) with one or more sialic acids
(AKA n-acetylneuraminic acid) linked on the sugar chain. They
are present on cell surfaces, with the 2 hydrocarbon chains
of the ceramide moiety embedded in the plasma membrane and
the oligosaccharides on the extracellular surface.
