Validation mean documented evidence that a particular
instrument or process produce results meet predetermined
specification.
Calibration means particular instrument or device produce
results by comparison of known reference standard.

Validation in the pharmaceutical and medical device
industry is defined as the documented act of demonstrating
that a procedure, process, and activity will consistently
lead to the expected results.
Making measurements with any analytical method or
instrument requires calibration to ensure the accuracy of
the measurement. There are two common calibration
procedures: using a working curve, and the standard-
addition method. Both of these methods require one or more
standards of known composition to calibrate the
measurement.

will calibratin only for instruments ,. but we can perform
validation not only for instuments for method allso,,..
calibratiom = checking the instrument with standards
validation = validating the existing method or instrument

Validation is a documented program that provides high degree of assurance that a specific process, equipment, method or system consistently produces a result meeting pre-determined acceptance criteria.Shall be performed as per validation protocol.
Calibration is a demonstration that, a particular Instrument or device produces results with in specified limits by comparisons with those produced by a reference or traceable standard over an appropriate range of measurements.Shall be performed as per calibration SOP.

Calibration is done by known device (standard)againt the
the unknown device, it means instrument are working
properly or not and can be adjusted within tolerance.
Validation is to ensure the method which is to be used for
its intended purpose or not.

Answer / nirav panchal
Calibration is done to nulify or remove the deviation by comparing with known or reference standard,
while Validation is done to prove that Consistency of expacted results of Process,Method,or Procedure
Is This Answer Correct ? | 6 Yes | 2 No |
calibration:is to check instrument working condition with standards
validation: is to make shore that instrument and methods and processare consistently producing repeatable results as per in house requirement .
calibration gives assurance about only instrument but validation gives assurance about method, and process and man instruments

2. Two grams of Benzoic acid are dissolved in 200 ml of water and extracted with 200 ml of diethyl ether. The distribution coefficient of benzoic acid is 100, and its dissociation constant is 6.5 10-5. Calculate the distribution ratio (D) of benzoic acid at pH 2, 5, and 6. 3. Calculate D at pH 2 to 10 (1 unit apart) in the above problem, and plot D versus pH.
