Radius of sphere is increased by 50%. By how much percentage is surface area is increased? ..

Answer / prian

since all spheres are similar, then there is a proportion in their radius and their surface areas...

if a:b, then a^2:b^2

if a:a*.50, then a^2:(a*.50)^2

to simplify it, if the radius of the sphere is increased by 50%, then the surface area is increased by 25%...

Radius of sphere is increased by 50%. By how much percentage is surface area is increased? ..

Answer / dennis nairobi

The radius of the sphere will increase by 25%. Here is how
to go about it: the area of a sphere is given by 4*pi*r^2.
As we well know, there are two constants in the equation
which will not change no matter how much the radius changes.
So the only thing that changes is the radius which increases
by 50%, thus (50/100)*(50/100)=25/100=25%
