Explain what is nucleus?

Explain what is nucleus?..

Answer / Anirudh Prasad

The nucleus is the dense, central part of an atom. It contains protons and neutrons and is surrounded by electrons that orbit the nucleus in shells. The number of protons in a nucleus is known as the atomic number of the element, while the total number of protons and neutrons (mass number) determines the particular isotope of the element. The nucleus holds most of an atom's mass and is bound together by the strong nuclear force.
