Copper is most commonly used since it is very inexpensive

Gold is used mainly because of it's reliability and ability

the four.

Aluminum is the fourth best conductor and is used primarily
in housing wiring for inexpensive purposes. The only
problem with aluminum is since it is such a light metal, it
shows unreliable over time and tarnishes easier as well.

3) silver is a good conductor of electricity like many other metals because the atoms that make up a piece of silver will have many free electrons that can be moved by applying voltage across it. Silver is best if it's well sheilded and soldered,
protected from corrosion. Gold is best if it's a surface
contact, like an RCA cable, because it's resistent to
corrosion. Copper is a little better for conductivity than
gold but not as good as silver but silver tarnishes a
little easier than copper making copper the happy medium.
