Charak is the father of Indian Medicine he is not the father of Ayurveda, Charak basically translated Agnivesh Samhita and named it Charak Samhita, where as Bhagwan Dhanvantri is also believed to be the father of Ayurveda. Charak , Agnivesh and Bhagwan Dhanvantri all three are the father.
