Dust is removed from a carpet, if we strike it with a stick, why ?..

Answer / abhiram

When a hanging carpet is beaten with a stick, the dust
particles come out. This is because on beating the carpet
comes in motion but the dust particles try to remain in
rest due to inertia of rest and hence come out of carpet.

Dust is removed from a carpet, if we strike it with a stick, why ?..

Answer / lagnajeet tripathy

Initially the carpet and the dust particles are in rest.when we beat the carpet with a stic, the carpet comes in motion but the dust particles tend to remain at rest due to inertia of rest.so the dust particles remain in air while the carpet comes down due to the beating of the stick.

Dust is removed from a carpet, if we strike it with a stick, why ?..

Answer / suyash sinha

why ?it can also be like this, when carpet is beaten with a stick the carpet does not come in motion because of its larger mass than dust particles and thus particles loses its inertia and come out of the carpet and falls down due to gravitation.

INERTIA OF A BODY = MASS OF A BODY
inertia is directly proportional to mass of the body.
