TDS ( Tax Deducted at Source ) is the amount of Tax deducted from the payment of some expenses or fee by the payer of such expenses.The nature of payments comes under TDS and the rate at which it is deducted is mentioned in Income Tax Act 1961.
Examples of such Payments : Salary, Interest, Professional Fee,Payment towards winning from Lottery, Cross word puzzle, card games etc.

Sir, My mother has got a sum of money about 5 lacs in the form of pension arrears. Will she have to pay the income tax on this amount which is deposited in her bank account & if it is then please suggest me to save the tax at maximum possible.
If a supplier of goods is also a Contractor doing labour work, then is it necessary to collect separate bills one for material & the other for labour? or else tell me what is to be doen?
