Tarun invited 750 persons to a party. Every person that came
to the party, came by a car such that exactly six persons
came in each of the three different cars and exactly seven
persons came in each of the remaining cars. At the party,
when every person including Tarun was seated in a group of
eleven, one group fell short by four persons. If maximum
possible number of persons came to the party, then out of
the persons who were invited by Tarun, how many persons did
not come to the party?

Answer / ankit kumar

Answer should be 18.

Number of ppl who came = 750-18=732
here (102 cars with 7 ppl) * 7 + 6*3 =732

Also for making groups total persons = 750-18+1=733

and 733(mod 11)= 7

Answer / aravind

i think it is 11.

751/11 = 68groups and 3members(including Tarun)
max number attended = 748 - 4(short in one group)
= 744
now 4+2(excluding Tarun)= 6 short

now they all came in car

6 * 3 + 7 * xcars = 744
7 * xcars = 726
the value should be 7 divisible because all came in car,
there is 5 more in 726,
i.e 726/7 remainder 5
so already we have 6 members short and now 5 more
6 + 5 = 11

if 11 is the answer thn
751-11=740
when we divide 740 with 11 we get reminder 3, but as the
question one group fell short by 4 person.
that's why i think 11 is wrong.

@Phenies: you have included Tarun. He is the host and not
the invitee! I included him at the first because he is one
