hardness means presence of Calcium and Magnesium carbonates
and bicarbonates, these can be analysed by titration with
EDTA ( Ethylene Diamino tetra acetic acid ) using muroxide
and Eriochrome black-T as indicators
For calcium hardness muroxide is the indicator colour
change is pink to violet ( brinjal flower colour)
For total hardness determination EBT is the indicator
colour cange is pink to blue

Answer / devidas
hardness presence of mg, ca or other metal.
it can be analysed by titreting with EDTA. Edta form the
complex with metal ions and we can estimat the presence of
metal in water.
