Presently CST is @ 2% against form 'C' and will be charged
at different rate for different products , but this rate
will be same for all state.
for eg- for UPS it is 4% , battery Charger @ 12.5% , this
rate will be same for all state

There two type of taxes.
1. CST against 'c' form @ 2%.
CST against without 'c' form @ 3%.

The sale tax applies according to sale conditions: if you
sale goods in one state to another state then cst apply
with rate @ 2%, but if sale done without form c then the
cst shall aply @ 13.125%( present rate).
AND VAT APLLY ON THE INTRA STATE SALE OR PURCHASE .means if
you sale or purchased goods in same state ,then that state
level vat shall be aplly ,which is against dva-1 is 5 %
(change in 2011-12 ,haryana state level vat)
so net cconclusion is that sales tax is 2% ( if form c
issued by buyer) otherwise it shall be 13.125%.
and vat is 5 %( if dvat -1 issued) otherwise it shall be
12.5%

2- CST
central sale tax deducted by central goverment of india.

CST rate in India at present is 2% with C Form. If the C Form is not produced, the rates can be 5% or 12.5% or 20% depending upon the tax schedule in that particular State.

Sir, An Awarder make part payment to the Contractor after deducting retention money @5%. The retention money will be paid to the contractor when the contract work is fully completed. Here my question is,when the Awarder has to deduct tax on retention money, at the time of deducting the retention money or at the time of payment of retention money when the contract is completed?
