What is WCT? On Which it is calculated?..

Answer / kareena kapoor khan

Works contract tax (WCT) is a tax imposed on a contract for
work such as assembling, construction, building, altering,
manufacturing, processing, fabricating, installation,
improvement, repair, or commissioning of any movable or
immovable property.

WCT is based on the contracts for labor, work, or service
and not for the sale of goods, although goods are used to
fulfill the contract. For example, when a contractor
constructs a building, the buyer pays for the cost of the
building which includes the building material, labor, and
other services. No contract exists for the supply of the
building material. The WCT tax applies only to the building
and not for the materials used for construction. WCT
certificate is the Certificate of Tax (R75I119) which you
submit to the dealer or contractor.

What is WCT? On Which it is calculated?..

Answer / ca sachin agarwal

Let me tell you in simple words ,WCT is like VAT, Whenever we take any contract where material and services both are to used like goods repair where that service provider would be providing service as well as proving material , It is called works contract. Actually WCT is calculated on the value of material and on the value of service , we have to give service tax.

But it is always not possible to bifurcate the value of goods and service. In that case, govt has provided rules where u can pay tax on presumptive value.
In WCT service provider and receiver have to pay 50-50% ST.

WCT rate is 3%( if registered , otherwise 4%)

Like if you are getting your goods repaired and the SP gives a bill of 1,00,000 then

service chage = 1,00,000
service tax on bill charged by SP = 1,00,000*12.36%*70%/2 =4326
and we will also pay 4326 to govt directly .

and WCT shall be = (1,00,000+4326)*3% =3130

Dear Experts, I need your help in deriving a formula for calculating three taxes with a combination of cumulative and inclusive tax. Here are the examples with expected result. Please let me know the formula on how to get the given result. Example1: Total Product Value (V) = 1000 (with inclusive of all 3 taxes and below mentioned cumulative combinations) Tax1 rate is 10% and Tax1 is inclusive. Tax2 rate is 10% with Tax2 is inclusive and cumulative of Tax1 Tax3 rate is 10% with Tax3 is inclusive and there is no cumulative of Tax1, Tax2 Expected Results are: Tax1=76.34 Tax2=83.97 Tax3=76.34 Let me know formula to derive above values? Example2: Total Product Value (V) = 1000 (with inclusive of all 3 taxes and below mentioned cumulative combinations) Tax1 rate is 10% and Tax1 is inclusive. Tax2 rate is 10% with Tax2 is inclusive and cumulative of Tax1 Tax3 rate is 10% with Tax3 is inclusive and cumulative of Tax2 Expected Results are: Tax1=75.70 Tax2=83.27 Tax3=84.03 Please let me know formula to derive above values? Thanks in advance.
