What are the Type of CMM Levels, Explain Each Level...

Answer / abhi

Capability Maturity Model:

Is is bascally divided into irdmo 5 levels
Initial:Most of the companies come under this model. Intial
level is maintained by few heros in the company. No
planning is done. One or just few people know about the
developent process if they leave the company the project
may be held in between.

Repeatable: In this phase the prevoius and the trusted
software development processesaare being repeated. Not for
all the processes it may work but they are being taken as
the base. It has to be made sure that in the stress time
these practices are being followed.

Defined: In this level a set of standard processes is
beings set and those sets are followed to maintain
consistency throughout the organisation.

Managed: Few qaulitative and quantitaive goals are being
set aand the performance is judged on the basis of it. The
main diffrence between the 3 and the 4 level is in the 3
level the processes are judged only on the qualitative
attributes. But in lenvel 4 it judged on the basis of
qualitative and quantitative attributes.

Optimising focuses on continually improving process
performance through both incremental and innovative
technological improvements

What are the Type of CMM Levels, Explain Each Level...

Answer / psrisusee

CMM Levels

Level 1 : Initial
- Unpredictable and poor control.
- Efforts required by individuals to successfully complete
project.
- Success may not repeatable.

Level 2 : Repeatable
- Can repeat previously mastered task.
- Software Project tracking, requirment management,
realistic planning, and configuration management process are
in place.
- successful project can be repeated.

Level 3 : Defined
- process are characterized, fairly well understood.
- Standard software developement and maintenance process are
integreated througout the organization.
- a software engineering process group is in place to
oversee software process.
- training programs are used to ensure understanding and
compliance.

Level 4 : Managed
- Process measured and controlled.
- Metrics are used to track productivity, process and products.
- Project performance is predicted.
- Quality is consistently high.

Level 5 : Optimizing

- Focus on process improvement.
- focus on continuous process improvement. The impact of new
technology and process cab be predicted and effectively
implemented when required.

What are the Type of CMM Levels, Explain Each Level...

Answer / manohar

Level 1 - Ad hoc (Chaotic) : It is characteristic of
processes at this level that they are (typically)
undocumented and in a state of dynamic change, tending to
be driven in an ad hoc, uncontrolled and reactive manner by
users or events. This provides a chaotic or unstable
environment for the processes.
Level 2 - Repeatable : It is characteristic of processes
at this level that some processes are repeatable, possibly
with consistent results.
Process discipline is unlikely to be rigorous, but where it
exists it may help to ensure that existing processes are
maintained during times of stress.
Level 3 - Defined : It is characteristic of processes at
this level that there are sets of defined and documented
standard processes established and subject to some degree
of improvement over time. These standard processes are in
place (i.e., they are the AS-IS processes) and used to
establish consistency of process performance across the
organization
Level 4 - Managed : It is characteristic of processes at
this level that, using process metrics, management can
effectively control the AS-IS process (e.g., for software
development ). In particular, management can identify ways
to adjust and adapt the process to particular projects
without measurable losses of quality or deviations from
specifications. Process Capability is established from this
level.
Level 5 - Optimized : It is characteristic of processes at
this level that the focus is on continually improving
process performance through both incremental and innovative
technological changes/improvements.

What are the Type of CMM Levels, Explain Each Level...

Answer / bhavani

Maturity model can be viewed as a set of structured levels of how well the behavior, practices and processes of an organization are reliably producing the required outcome.has 5 levels.
1.Initial(chaotic environment):
-no documentation.
-no clear idea of process.
-uncontrolled and reactive manner by users.
2.Repeatable(use of previous process):
-process of previous is adapted.
-consistent results.
-process possibilities are unlikely rigorous,maintained
during stress.
3.Defined:
-well documented.
-define set of standard process.
-establish consistency of process performance
4.Managed:
-using metrics.
-controlling the standard processes.
-adjust and adapt the process for some projects.
-capability is established in this level.
5.Optimizing:
-continually focus is on improving process performance.
