When the copy is done withhout changing the OPERATING
SYSTEM and the DATABASE this kind of copy is a HOMOGENEOUS
SYSTEM COPY.
BUT
When there is a change in the OPERATING SYSTEM or DATABASE
or BOTH CHANGE then this kind of copy is a HETEROGENOUS
SYSTEM COPY. During the kind of copy a " MIGRATION KEY " is
needed which will be provided to a Certified Migration
Expert by SAP.

Homogeneous copy is constrained to within Network and
Heterogeneous Copy is copying from remote locations to
source system.In other terms it is copying within the same
network system as Homogeneous and copying a system which is
present in different location is said to be heterogeneous
copying.
