There are 200 questions on a 3 hr examination.Among these
questions are 50 mathematics problems. It is suggested that
twice as much time be spent on each maths problem as for
each other question. How many minutes should be spent on
mathematics problems, plz give detail, how to solve?
Answer Posted / harsh
3 hrs=180 mins
suppose time alloted for each que=1 unit
the time alloted to a que other than mathematics=(200-50)
=150 units
since the time spent on a maths question is twice the other
problems, time spent on a maths prob= 50*2=100 units
therefore, 2/5 or [100/(150+100)] of the total time will be
spent on a maths prob
ie 180*(2/5)
=72 mins
