the Bug life cycle is maintaining their different flow for
their project,

for my project we are doing as following steps.
1.when we raise the defect, It will be the NEW status and
theis will be assigned to the developer, and I will the
mail through QC.
2.The Developer 'OPEN' the defect.If it is not a defect the
developer will 'REJECT' the defect.other wise they fix the
defect.
3.After the 'FIXED' the defect by the developer they will
assign to the tester.
4. The tester will test the defect,If it is working fine
them CLOSE the defect,otherwise 'REOPEN' the defect and
send it mail to the developer once again.

Usually I will raise the defect using Quality center. In
that I will give the desctiption and details and seviriry
and priority of the defect.
after raising the defect the QC will produce the Defect Id.
we can send the mailt to the developer throught QC itself
with defect details

Hi I worked in Web applications and Mainframe testing. As
per my experience,

In web applications,after they promote the code to the test
environment,they will send the confirmation mail with new
URL. based on that we will test the web application.

In Mainframe testing, first they will send the approval
mail from Test manager to promote the code, after PM
approval mail they will send the mail with details to the
Release management for promotion of the code. After promote
the code in test environment, the release management send
the mail to test manager,Then testes will start the testing

We can find through Quality center who is passed or failed
the test case. Based on that we can find the person.
