Hi I worked in Web applications and Mainframe testing. As
per my experience,
In web applications,after they promote the code to the test
environment,they will send the confirmation mail with new
URL. based on that we will test the web application.
In Mainframe testing, first they will send the approval
mail from Test manager to promote the code, after PM
approval mail they will send the mail with details to the
Release management for promotion of the code. After promote
the code in test environment, the release management send
the mail to test manager,Then testes will start the testing

we get the build from Testing TL, they send through common
repository, where TL, Team Testers can access the
Build,Senior Test Engineer.
