What is the difference between key and alternate search key?
Answer / Abdul Kadir Quraishi
A Key in PeopleSoft is a unique combination of one or more fields that identifies each record uniquely within a table. An Alternate Search Key (ASK) is an optional set of fields used to speed up searches when the primary key does not contain fields that are commonly used for searching. An ASK can be used instead of, or in addition to, the primary key during search operations.
