Why mac address called physical address?

Why mac address called physical address?..

Answer / Omprakash Varanwal

A MAC (Media Access Control) address, also known as a hardware address or physical address, is given to a network interface controller (NIC) by the manufacturer. The primary reason it's called a 'physical address' is because it uniquely identifies each device on the physical network. This is crucial for proper communication between devices in a local area network (LAN).
