The 8086 microprocessor has a more complex architecture than the 8085. It includes an arithmetic logic unit (ALU), control unit, register bank, bus interface unit (BIU), and external interface. The register bank contains various registers including accumulator, index registers, and stack pointer. The BIU handles communication between the microprocessor and memory and I/O devices.
