Explain about Magnetic mines

Magnetic mines—It is an underwater weapon with an explosive charge and fitted with a device which is triggered by the magnetic field of the hull of a ship passing over the mine. For protection a ship is ‘degaussed’ by passing electric current through a permanent coil built around hull.
