When the cycle is in motion actually the cyclist is also moving along with the cycle .Therefore when the brake is applied ,the cycle gets slower but the cyclist continue to be in its state of motion due to the property of matter called inertia .

are applied, the cycle is brought to rest suddenly but the
cyclist remains in motion and , therefore falls forward.
