Seven members sat around a table for three days for a conference. The member's names were Abhishek, Amol, Ankur, Anurag, Bhuwan ,Vasu and Vikram. The meetings were chaired by Vikram. On the first evening members sat around the table alphabetically. On the following two nights, Vikram arranged the seating so that he could have Abhishek as near to him as possible and absent minded Vasu as far away as he could. On no evening did any person have sitting next to him a person who had previously been his neighbor. How did Vikram manage to seat everybody to the best advantage on the second and third evenings?

On the second night, Vikram can arrange the seating such that Abhishek sits next to Vasu (who was far from him on the first night) and as far away from Bhuwan as possible. Since they are seven members, we know their relative order: 1. Amol, 2. Ankur, 3. Anurag, 4. Abhishek, 5. Vasu, 6. Bhuwan, and 7. Vikram (alphabetical order). On the second night, Vikram can rearrange them as follows: 1. Amol, 2. Ankur, 3. Anurag, 4. Abhishek, 5. Vasu, 6. Bhuwan, and 7. Vikram (no change). On the third night, Vikram can rearrange them as: 1. Amol, 2. Ankur, 3. Anurag, 4. Vikram, 5. Abhishek, 6. Bhuwan, and 7. Vasu (Vikram sits next to Abhishek, and Vasu is as far away from everyone as possible).
