Explain FDDI

Explain FDDI..

Answer / Anshul Gupta

FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) is a high-speed, dual ring-based network architecture used for LAN and WAN applications. It is designed to transmit data at speeds up to 100 Mbps over fiber-optic cable. The two rings in FDDI are the Main Ring and the Backup Ring. Data travels counterclockwise around the main ring, while the backup ring acts as a protection mechanism in case of failures on the main ring. Each device on the network has a unique address to identify it within the network.
