In 1922 Chittaranjan Das, N.C. Kelkar and Motilal Nehru
formed the Congress-Khilafat Swarajaya Party also known as
the Swaraj Party. Other leaders were Huseyn Shaheed
Suhrawardy and Subhas Chandra Bose of Bengal, Vithalbhai Patel.
The party was founded after Chauri Chaura when a Police
Station was set on fire and about 23 policemen were killed
as they were inside the Police Station.
