If a company issues a $1 million dividend and has 10 million shares, the dividend per share is 10 cents ($1 million divided by 10 million shares).

example:
face value = 10
% given as dividend = 100%
No of shares = 100
Total dividend = 10*100%=(10*100)=1000
DPS =1000/100=10
