I want to attend an international conference in USA to present my paper. am a Ph.D student. I have a visa interview on 6th october 2010. what should be my minimum bank balance? yet to get a travel grant letters from govt. funding agencies.

hi i have a friend who lived in USA.he is a boy.he have a H1 visa .it is possible that he sponser me?
My friend in Nevada want me to visit him. He tried filing an affidavit of support at the Immigration and Naturalization Service there but the officer told him that I should be the one to process my visitor visa application with my own documents. Does it mean Affidavit of support or invitation letter is not a requirement for applying a Visitor Visa coming from the Philippines? and will the bank deposit of $1,100.00 enough for my 3 days stay in the USA because my friend will be responsible for all of my expenses including the airfare?
