Answer / karthick
14,000/100=140
Hence 1%= Rs 140/-
11%=Rs 1540
14,000-1540=Rs 12460/-
12460-11214=1246
then 1246/140=8.9%
i) if the % calculated from the first amount of 14,000 = 8.9%
ii) if the % calculated from the second amount of 12460= 10%

First Discount:
14000(1-11/100) = 12460.
Second Discount:
12460(1-x/100) = 11214
x = 100 - (11214/12460)*100

Answer / sunil902
Marked Price (a)= Rs.14,000/-.
First Discount (b)= 11%.
Then first discounted amount (c) is (a*b)-a = Rs. 12,460/-.
Final Discount (d)= x%
so final discount would be on Rs. 12,460/-.
then 12,460*x/100 = 11,214.
After calculating
Final discount is 10%.

MP= 14000
SP= 11214
1st Dics. 11% then MP woul be 14000*.89= 12460
then 2nd dics. 11214/12460= .90 or 90%
so it wud be 10%
So right answer is 10%

Answer / rajesh mistry
Total Discount 14000-11214 = 2786
So, 2786 = 11% of 14000 + X% of 14000
(let assume X be a second discount rate)
2786 = 1540 + 140 X
1246 = 140 X
There For X= 8.9
There For Second Discount Rate = 8.9%
