Question { 13081 }

how to do CT Burden test

Answer

thats CT saturate voltage thats we can see in the table to
decide the CT size and accuracy the formula for calculate

total resiatance * Fault current
Voltage at the time of fault-------------------------
CT ratio
For example that voltage 34Volts and the ct saturate
voltage 40Volts thats a knee point so we select a ct that
have less than 40volts

Question { ABB, 20682 }

wat is the difference between real power and reactive
power..which is useful..?and how it s useful..wat is the
effect of these on a power system...

Answer

Active power
Which iz doing the real work lighting heating etc
Reactive power
Which iz used for the magnetizing of motors,transformers
and generators coils.
active power iz use ful but with out reactive power u never
magnetize any motor transformer or generator u can just
only improve the power factor to reduce ur loss.
KVA * PF = KW
for example
100 * 1 = 100 KW
IF pf 0.8
100*.8= 80KW

Is This Answer Correct ?    1 Yes 1 No

Question { 33739 }

what is dc transformer? how it work?

Answer

there is no dc transformer

Is This Answer Correct ?    4 Yes 2 No

Question { 5427 }

what is diffrential relay used in generator
plz give brief explanation

Answer

That works on difference of two current thats why known as
diffrential relay for example two cts one on generator
phase ct and other r on neutral side both cts passing for
example 5amps but the direction of current iz opposite so
the resultant iz zero that senses the relay if there is any
fault in the generator so the current increase on fault
side and the dirrence current increase and relay trip the
CB that iz the protection of generator transformer winding

Question { 44689 }

What is fuction of NGT/NGR using in Generator.

Answer

NGR Neutral ground resister
NGR connected between earth and star point of generator
during normal condition only limited current or zero
current flow in the ground side but during fault there r
too much current that limit the NGR with the help of
resister and relay setting according to that minimize
current that tripped the breaker of generator
Have a good day man

Question { 5282 }

what is meant by reactive power ,active power & real power ?
thank you

Answer

Reactive power
that is used for magnetizing the coils of generator
transformers and motors
P= root of 3 *V*I* sin theta

Active power
that is doing the actual work like heating lighting and
rotating.
P= root of 3 *V*I* cas theta

Is This Answer Correct ?    1 Yes 1 No

Question { 5800 }

what need of NGR(neutral grounding registor)? What it works?

Answer

NGR used for limiting the ground fault cuurent that is
installed in between generator neutral point and earth in
case of fault that limit the fault current that is of
diffrent type resiatance type, reactance ,petrson coil
earthing. In case of one phase fault that NGR limit the
current and relays detect that and trips the generator.

Question { Shell, 3517 }

in the exciter the power is feeded from battry or control
or whatever.and we need it in the generators for the
stating . do we need it in the shutdown also?i mean the
exciter>

Answer

The Dc supply is used for excitation purpose firstly we
excite the generator with DC the rotor moves and generate
electricity during shut down the dc supply breaker should
be off.

Question { 3310 }

Is it benefitial to supply 210v ac to lighting fixtures
instead of 240v ac?

Answer

thats not benefitial bz when voltage decreases current
increase

Is This Answer Correct ?    0 Yes 0 No

Question { 3337 }

Abb 11kv how it is closing automatically when the cb is racking in and rack out when it reaching test position

Answer

when breaker in rack in position its limit switch closed
for only automatic operation when breaker rack out another
limit switch closed at rackout position so only manual
operation or test position operation possible

Question { 4219 }

I have running 4 generator in paralel.All generators
Voltages is same(470 V),KW also same (100 KW) but only No2
generator Amper is high than another generators.
DG No:1,3,4 470V,100KW, 150 A
DG No:2 470V,100KW,400 A

Answer

the power formula P=1.732*VICaso according to that if
current will increase active power will also increase so u
check ur meters once again

Question { GE, 16420 }

why battery dc voltage become Half when we check with
respect to ground for example 120volts + and - terminals
and when we check + terminal with Earth thats 60volts why
60volts we can not ground the battery.

Answer

Dear K.prachash can u please explain the DC battery 12volts
directly connected to load but when we check its voltage
with respect to ground that half moreover i cant understand
the rectifier transformer.
Thanks for ur time and consideration.

Question { 5433 }

how much current will be drawn by 3 phase, 415v, 50 hz, 20
ton central ac

Answer

one ton = 1250 watts
20 * 1250 = 25KW
P = 1.732 * V *I * Caso
25000=1.732*415*I*0.8
I=43.47Amps
