Question { 22478 }

Hi, All
I am configuring EIGRP in Packet tracer, after configuring
all the things it is not working but in one condition it is
working fine if i am putting all my router and network
withing one network subnets e.g. 172.16.0.0 or 10.0.0.0 but
whenever i am puting different network subnets e.g. in one
network it is RA(config-if)#=ip address 10.0.0.1, and in
fa0/0= 192.168.1.10 and in RB(config-if)#10.0.0.2 (s1/0) and
in S1/1 11.0.0.1 and in fa 0/0 192.168.100.1 ,where as in
third router RC(config-if)#=ip address 11.0.0.2 and in fa
0/0 172.16.1.10 and after configuring all this serial is
showing up and protocol showing up but eigrp process not
taking place after adding eigrp configuration, i tried with
"no auto-summary" command but not working.. Suggest me where
i missing something? can mail me at : gtech.innovator@gmail.com

Answer

Hi Gt.... Better disclose ur name dude..!!! Don't mind.. if
u can disclose ur name.. it wud be gud for communication. By
the way.... Download GNS3 from the bellow link...

http://www.gns3.net/download

After that download IOS image from rapidshare.com.. (Sry i
don't hv link). For GNS3 u sud hv min 1 GB RAM.. to operate
it. Its little bit complicated compare to BOSON/PACKET
TRACER/ROUTER SIMULATOR... all those.. !!!

Download GNS3 installation Guide also... Just search it on
google... n follow dat.. All the best..!!!

What are the difference between IPv4 & IPv6?? Can anyone
explain more details about it..!!

Answer

Hi... there is lots of difference in IPv4 & IPv6...let me
try to explain...

some of them are..

a. IPv4 is a 32 bit addressing scheme in a TCP/IP network
where as IPv6 is a 128 bits address.

b. Address available in IPv4 is near about 4.3 billion
(including private, public & reserve) where as in IPv6 its
2^128.... (Calculate it... i don't hv guts....heheheh)

c. Complicated header in IPv4 where as IPv6 has most
simplied header (Extension field in header is optional in
IPv6 & Also some one fields are removed).

d. In Ipv4, IPSec & AH (Authentication Header)is add ons
(Not present default), where as in IPv6 IPSec & AH is
present default.

e. IN IPv4, there in no inbuilt QoS, but in IPv6, its inbuilt.

f. Stateless auto configuration is not supported by IPv4,
where as IPv6 support it. (New fatured introduced in IPv6).

g. In IPv4 network, packet fragmentation is done by router
or layer 3 device... where as in IPv6 network, packet
fragmentation is done by source node. so it reduce the
router overhead.

h. In IPv4, ip addressing styles are unicast, multicast &
broadcast, where as in IPv6 instaed of braodcast, its
introduce a new style its known as ANYCAST. (Same address
for group of devices, but packet wud be sent to nearest
device). So in IPv6 we can hv n number of server of the same
address.

i. In IPv4, ARP is used to track IP to MAC, where as in
IPv6, NDP (Neighbor Discovery protocol) is used for this
purpose.

Hey guys, Watever i know i just wrote it here... may be i m
wrong in some concept, let me know...... coz i m still
reading abt IPv6 & i think i hv to read more abt it...!!!
Coz after all we gonna use it very soon.

Question { TCS, 6498 }

what is the default ad value of the interface directly
coneted to router.

as for exmaple ad value of ospf is 90 then from ehternet
the network is conected whta is difault value of that
directly conected interface.

what is the defalt ad value of bgp

whta is access llist and how many type of access list

what is vlan

what is vpn

how e congigure the router

what is mpls

these are the question skrd to me at tcs i have replyed all
ecxept the first one

Answer

a. Default AD value of directly connected interface is 0 (Zero).

b. AD value of BGP is

Internal BGP (IBGP) - 200
External BGP (EBGP) - 20

c. Access-list is a set of rules which allow/deny flow of
traffic moving through the routers.
or else we can say, ACL is method of making a router as a
packet filtering firewall.

- It is layer 3 security which control flow of traffic.
- It doesn't filter the traffic originated by router itself.
- Generally ACL is implemented in distribution layer router.
- It is created on gobal configuration mode.

In terms of identification, ACL are of two types -

a. Name ACL.
b. Number ACL.

In terms of traffic filtering, ACL are of two types -

a. Standard ACL.
b. Extended ACL.

d. The process of building a logical topology over a
physical network for the purpose of performance, security &
efficient use of bandwidth.

Question { HCL, 65710 }

What is BGP attribute & How many types of attributes are
used by BGP???

Answer

BGP attributes is a metric used to describe the
characteristics of a BGP paths. Attributes are conatained in
update messages passed between BGP peers for advertise routers.

BGP attributes are broadly divided into two types -

a) Well Known
b) Optional.

Well Known attributes are divided into two types -

a) Mandatory
b) Descretionary

** Mandatory attributes are divided into three types -

a) AS Path
b) Next Hop
c) Origin

** Origin attributes divided into three types -

a) Internal(i)
b) External(e)
c) Incomplete(?)

** Descretionary attributes are divided into two types -

a) Local Preference
b) Atomic Aggregate

Optional attributes are divided into two types -

a) Transitive
b) Non Transitive

** Transitive attributes are divided into two types -

a) Aggregator
b) Community

** Community attributes are divided into for types -

a) No-export
b) No advertise
c) Internet
d) Local AS.

&& Non transitive attributes are divided into three types -

a) MED (Multi Exit Discriminator).
b) Originator
d) Cluster ID.

I'll explain all attributes on next post..!!!

Question { HCL, 65710 }

What is BGP attribute & How many types of attributes are
used by BGP???

Answer

Lets start from first... I m gonna explain each attributes
one by one -

Well Known:
Well known attributes are must be recognized by
each compliant of BGP implementations. Well known attributes
are propagated to other neighbors also.

Optional:
Optional attributes are recognized by some
implementation of BGP & expected that not recognized by
everyone. Optional attributes are propagated to their
neighbors based on the meanings.

Mandatory:
Mandatory is BGP well known attributes. Mandatory
attributes are must be present in all update message passed
between BGP peers. It is present in route description.

Discretionary:
Discretionary is BGP well known attributes.
Discretionary attributes are may be present on update message.

AS Path:
AS path is BGP well known mandatory attributes. AS
path defines the list of Autonomous System that a route has
passed through. AS path attributes are used in path
selection process & lowest path attributes will be preferred
over highest one.

Next-Hop:
Next hop is BGP well known mandatory attributes. In
BGP, next hop is the IP address which is used to reach the
advertising BGP router.

For EBGP, next hop is the ip address of the connection
between the peers.

For IBGP, EBGP next hop address is carried into local
autonomous system.

Origin:
Origin is BGP well known mandatory attributes.
Origion attributes define how BGP router learned about the
particular route. Origin attribute have three possible
values i.e. internal (i), External (e) & Incomplete (?).

Internal(i):
BGP learned about the route from Interior
routing protocol.

External(e):
BGP learned about the router from External BGP.

Incomplete(?):
The origin of the route is unknown or learned by
some other way. The origin of incomplete occurs when routes
are redistributed into BGP.

NB:
1. Due to lack of time, rest of attributes I'll discuss on
next post.
2. Its little bit difficult to draw diagram here & explain
each & every attributes.
3. If anyone need more about this, mail me on
mr.shahin07@gmail.com

Thanks & enjoys the weekend party tonight.... hehehe
