address, Destination IP address, Protocol Type, Source Port
Number & Destination Port Number.

b) Standard ACL are used to block particular host or sub
network. where as Extended ACL is used to block particular
services.

c)Standard ACL is implemented as possible closer to
destination. where as Extended ACL is implemented as
possible closer to source.

d) Standard ACL is created from 1 - 99 & extended range 1300
- 1999. where as Extended ACL is created from 100 - 199 &
extended range 2000 - 2699.

e) In Standard ACL, two communication will be blocked, where

Question { HCL, 92301 }

What is difference between standard and extended access-list

Answer

Mr. Diwakar... Nice question...

As we know, Extended ACL is basically used to block
particular services like telnet. ftp, tftp, ICMP echo etc.....

Now if we apply it near to destination, then data will flow
all the way to destination.. thn on particular interface on
the destination it'll droped.

So my question for you.... if u want to block particular
services then why u r letting data traffic to go near to
destination n thn droped?????

It may unnecessary using network bandwidth. Which is waste
as far as my concern. Hope it helps u to clear your doubts.

Cheers

Question { HCL, 7925 }

how osi layers works tell me in detail i m facing so much
of problems with osi layers plz kindly mail me on this
question

Answer

Application layer: It is the layer 7th of OSI model. Its
provide user interface that user used to interact with
software application (IE, Opera).

Apart from this, the other key functions performed by
application layer is -
a) Identify & Establish Communication.
b) Determine Resource Availability.
c) Synchronize Communication.

Suppose u want to access www. yahoo.com. To accomplish this
task, u write www.yahoo.com on address bar. Now Internet
Explorer with the help of protocol give u the necessary
interface to access Yahoo web page.

U can take another example, Windows Media player. We can
play music thro Win Media player. At this time, application
layer privide necessary interface to play a song thro media
player.

a) Identify & Establish Communication - Application
identify & determine the communication partner with whom
its goin to transfer data.

When u press enter after write www.yahoo.com, the
application layer determine wheater its a valid URL or not.
If yes, its establish a communication with server where
this page reside.

b)Determine Resource Availability: Application must
determine wheather the sufficient network resources are
available or not for the requested communication.

Application layer determine wheather the yahoo web page is
present on the world wide web or not. Application layer
make sure it.

c) Synchronize Communication: Communication between
application need certain help which is provided by
application layer.

Communication between ur system n web server need certain
help, which is provided by application layer.

Ethernet is a standard communication protocol embedded in
software & hardware, intended for building local area
networking.

Ethernet is a popular Data link layer & physical layer
technology for Local Area Network. It is less expensive &
widely used LAN technology.

First Ethernet was created in 1960's at UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII
for its ALOHA network.

First experimental Ethernet was created 1970's by BOB
METCALFE & DAVID BOGGS of PALO ALTO RESEARCH CENTER (PARC) &
speed was 2.94 Mbps.

In 1980's DIGITAL, INTEL & XEROX (DIX) jointly created
Ethernet, which is known as ETHERNET Version 1.0

Question { 6451 }

The administrator of a comapny needs to ensure that a web
server in
their network is accessible from the Internet. Since the
network uses private
addressing, this requires an IP-to-registered-address
mapping. The following
command is entered on the router:
router(config)# ip nat inside source static 192.168.2.1
198.18.1.254
After unsuccessful results from a ping to the Internet, the
administrator issues the
show ip nat translations command and the output is blank.
What could be the
problem with the NAT configuration for this mapping?
A. The keyword overload is missing from the command.
B. The administrator needs to define a NAT pool first.
C. An access list must be defined to create static NAT
translations.
D. The interfaces need to be configured for NAT.

Answer

The correct answer is (D) - The interface need to be
configured for NAT.

In the above scenario, administrator just configured NAT on
router global configuration mode. He didn't specify the
interface where translation would take place. We need to
specify the interface. For that commands are

Router(config)#interface serial [slot/port]
Router(config-if)# ip nat outside

Router(config)#interface ethernet/fastethernet [slot/port]
Router(config-if)# ip nat inside

Question { 4647 }

what hapeen we we configure default root on the router
which is conected by isp
supoese there are two router r1 is conected throug isp and
and by s0 r1 is conexted to r2
if we apply degault root on r1 what will happen

Answer

After of all ur question is not so clear. But still i m
trying to answer it.

When we use default route -

a) when our network is a stub network.
b) when we don't know the destination network IP.

In this case, it seems like u don't know the destination
network IP. so we hv to configure Default route on ROUTER 1.

Default route configuration command is -

Router(config-router)#ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 [Next Hop
IP/Exit Interface]

Commands explanation -

a) ip route: The command used to add a static or default route
b) 0.0.0.0: The wildcard used to say “any” network not
already in the routing table
c) 0.0.0.0: Wildcard mask to say “any” network mask
d) 172.10.0.2/S0(Suppose): Next hop gateway/Exit Interface.

Suppose u don't know the destination network IP, as its
necessary to knw in static routing. How can u configure if u
don't knw this.

Router(config-router)#ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 s1

*** (Suppose S1 is the interface which connects to ISP's
router).

So any traffic, that is destined for outside ur network will
be forwarded to S1 interface of ROUTER 1. So whenever ISP's
router receive the packet it'll check the L3 address &
forward accordingly.

Thats all about it. Hope it may help u to understand.

Thank You all.. Keep Posting.

Shahin.

Question { AT&T, 5867 }

take a pen and copy before solving that question

there is a router name Ra
there is two switch sw1 and sw2
sw1 is coneceted through fa0/1 interface of router Ra
sw2 is conected through the fa1/1
serai interface of router s0/1 conected through the isp
with it ip address 192.168.1.1

now therer are three host conexted through the sw1 and
having ip
host1=10.1.2.1
host2=10.1.2.2
host3=10.1.2.3
now there is also 3ree host conected through switch 2 i.e
sw2 having ip
host4=10.1.1.1
host 5=10.1.1.2
host 6=10.1.1.3
now i think u have made corect confrigation.now questios is
started
network admin configure the Ra router in that fassion
Ra(config)#access-list 2 permit 10.1.1.0 0.0.0.255
Ra(config)#line vty 0 4
ra(config)#access-class 2 in

now question is that why should network admnistratoe do it
in this maneer

A to give access sw1 host to acess internet

B to prevent sw1 host from acessing comand promt

c to prevent sw2 host from accessing console of router ra

D to give sw2 host access to the enternet

e prevent sw1 host from accessing internet

f to prevent sw1 host from acessing the sw2 host network

isp------(s0/1)..RA..(fa1/1)---SW2-host (4,5,6)
|
|
(sw1)------host 1,2,3
this is not exect digarm but help to derive the diagram
plz answer as soon as possible

Answer

Configuration -

Ra(config)#access-list 2 permit 10.1.1.0 0.0.0.255
Ra(config)#line vty 0 4
Ra(config)#access-class 2 in

From the above configuration one thing is clear that only
host from 10.1.1.0 network (i.e Switch 2)can access the telnet.

Host from 10.1.2.0 network are not allowed to access the
TELNET. As the access list specified on vitual terminal ie.
line vty 0 4.

So [B] is the correct answer.

[B] To prevent sw1 host from accessing command prompt

I configure ur scenario in PACKET TRACER & configure
accordingly.
After that i tried to access TELNET from client of Switch2,
i wz successful. Ie. Router allow to access the TELNET.

After that i tried to access TELNET from client of Switch1,
i wzn't successful.Ie Router doesn't allow to access the TELNET.

On the option, it create little bit confusion on mind..
COMMAND PROMPT of which device... off course its ROUTER.
If the option were written in specific, than i think no
confusion will arise.

I hope, it will help u..!!

Let me know my feedback..!!
