Answer / sm

Severity is in terms of Application wise and priority is in
terms of Client requirements.

High severity means it wont allow us to move forward
application wise where as low priority means according the
client the we can concentrate it on later while we are
developing it.

1. High Severity & Low Priority: Suppose there is an
application which generates some banking related reports
weekly, monthly, quarterly & yearly by doing some
calculations. In this application, there is a fault while
calculating yearly report. This is a high severity fault but
low priority because this fault can be fixed in the next
release as a change request.

File Edit Transfer
New Cut Convert
Open Copy

In this application there are Three menu's are there. In the
Transfer menu is not working.
The client is using File and edit menu only. That time the
client is not using Transfer menu.So the bug severity of the
bug is high. But we can fix later. So the priority will be low

anyone can tell me the example of high severioty and low priority ?..

Answer / csoni

*Priority means “Importance of the defect w.r.t customer
requirement.
*Severity means “seriousness of the defect w.r.t functionality.
1.High severity & low priority :- If a application crashes
on very rare occasions and changes are very low of
crashing.so severity will be high but priority will be low.

2.High severity & high priority:- if a application crashes
very frequently and duly visible or first time the
application came from development team to the testing
department.

3.Low severity & low priority:- it is merely just a
enhancement bug which the client wishes like changing the
background colour of user interface, also like adding a
button like 'back' to navigate previous page.

4.Low severity & high priority:- In this case if the name of
the company on its home page is misspell will be considered.
