What is V-model and explain differences between V-model and
other SDLC models like waterfall, spiral etc

What is V-model and explain differences between V-model and other SDLC models like waterfall, spir..

Answer / rajendra prasad reddy penumall

Hi,
---->>>>> What is V-model
V-Model will be basic and standard part of the Test
Strategy Document Of Software Project with defined Entry
and Exist Criteria’s.
The left tail ( '\') of "V" represents 'specifications
phase', the right tail('/') of "V" represents 'testing
phase',
The bottom of the "V" where tails meet
represents 'development phase'.
V-Model is a Software Development Model and It is an
extension for Conventional Waterfall development model.
V-Model Maps the relationship between development and
testing phases Of Software Development Life Cycle.
V-Model ensures the Software quality throughout the project
lifecycle
V-Model Mandates the testing should be considered in the
early of a Software Development Life Cycle.
In Real Testing and fixing can be done at any stage in the
lifecycle.
However cost of Fixing will Increase Exponentially as
Development progresses or later stages of Development.
V-Model introduces the idea of specifying test requirements
and expected results prior to the actual testing.
For Example Acceptance Tests can be performed on
requirements, rather than in final acceptance stage.
V-Model Separates the different phases of Testing.
V-Model also makes all the development and Testing Team
responsible for quality and testing Project
V model Focuses on defining different Tests(Like Unit,
Integration, System, Acceptance) that must take place
within each stage.
V model provides Testing roles for different stake holders
of project at each stage of like cycle.

V-Model:

For example:
Acceptance Testing Performed by User/Client
System Testing Performed by System Testers(Black
Box Testers)
Integration Testing Performed by Team Leaders
(Development Side)
Unit Testing Performed by Programmers

---->>>>> V Model Vs. waterfall

Fundamental Concept of Waterfall Model:
Waterfall is a very first Software Development Model.
Waterfall is a sequential model, defined based on concept
Of "Freezing of Current phase before getting into next
phase".
(This is the main disadvantage of the Waterfall Model)
In Waterfall, Testing will be introduced in the later
stages of software development Life Cycle.

To overcome this process Flaw V-Model Implemented.
V-model starts/introduces very early phases of SDLC cycle
(right from the requirements phase itself)
---->>>>>V Model Vs. spiral
Spiral Model is a Iterative Development Model.
Spiral Model can be used for R&D Projects, Complicated and
large projects/Products
In spiral model will be used for Product Development
Companies.
Spiral Model will be used if a product/application have
incremental requirements in different phases.
Spiral Model needs Product Road Map (I Mean Requirements of
Future Planned Enhancements) .
Spiral Model is Hybrid Model and it has features of both
Waterfall Model and Prototype Model.
In Spiral Model each iteration can be viewed as a single
Waterfall Model Work flow then Product will be presented to
Client.
Based on the Client feedback team will rework on the
existing product/project or they proceed next iteration to
implement additional new features and fixes for previous
iteration(refinement).
Each iteration will be planned in Well advance.
Spiral Model increases the robustness of the Product.
Spiral Model increases architecture effectiveness.
Risk Analysis is a Integral Part of Spiral Model.

V Model
V Model can be used even if the Requirements not very clear.
V Model can be used for less complexity of Projects.
