HOw do i calculate the number of theoretical plate on a HPLC
chromatography
Answer Posted / daljit singh randhawa
Theoretical plates(N):-
N = 5.55 x [RT/W]2
Here N = No. of Theoretical plates
RT = Retention Time
W = Peak width at half the hight of peak
Suppose RT of peak is 20 min. & Hight is 10 mm
Then W = 10/2 = 5
so N = 5.55 x [20/5]2
= 5.55 x [4]2
= 5.55 x 16 = 88.80
