Question { 5975 }

hello every one,

what is the difference between the Kvar and farads, Rating
on Power capacitor is for eg: x kvar, and normal capacitor
is eg: x farads.

what is the relation between these two?

Answer

KVAR : stands for Kilo Volt Ampere Reactance , used to
measure maximum reactive power (imaginary) that can the
capacitor stands

Farad : unit of measuring the capacitance of the capacitor

Depends on your source voltage and frequency.

VAR = reactive power = V*I (for a capacitor)

For a capacitor in a steady state AC circuit, V = I/(jwC) =
I/(2*pi*f*C) or I = 2*pi*f*C*V

Substituting, then

VAR = C*(2*pi*f*V^2)
kVAR = VAR / 1000

Question { 4488 }

In a class 80% have passed english,70% passed hindi, 10%
didnot passed either.If 144 students passed both. What is the
total strength of the class

Answer

Forget the 80% and the 70%. It is there to confuse you.

10% of class did not pass any test. 144 students passed both tests.
There for 90% must = 144 students. 10% + 90% = 100%.
Therefore 10% + 144 = 100%. So 144 = 90%. or 100% = 144/0.90 = 160

Question { 5577 }

if i conncet ct with ct ratio of 600/5 to an energy meter
having ct ratio of 100/5, the reading show by the meter
will correct, if wrong is there any method to calculate
correct value with shown value, if yes please state
it.....

Answer

If the meter is designed to use a 100/5 ct, it will receive
5 amps when the load is 100 amps. If the ct were a 600/5,
the meter would receive only 1/6 x 5 amps or 0.83 amps
which would be a low reading. You would need to multiply
the reading by 6 to get the correct value. You would likely
not get the the exact reading with the 600/5.

Question { 6250 }

30 kVA and voltage 380/220VAC how to find out kA?

Answer

Vipul Kumar your answer is wrong.

W is not = 1.732x380xI. W =1.732x380xIx PF. You left off
the power factor

Bala your answer is wrong also.

KA is not equal power/ (1.732*400*% of Impedance)Note
spelling of impedance. Where did you go to school?

Amps = 30 KVA/ (0.380 x 1.73)or 30000 va/380 x 1.73

Amps = 46
