why we use min. 12mm dia bar in a coloum.

as much i know i think less dia bars will require more stirrups so the column design will be uneconomical.

moreover since column is a vertical member the less dia bars will easily buckle as compared to 12mm when th equivalent length is quite high

Differenciate between One way slab and two way slab

1 way slab; ratio of bigger dimension to smaller is greater
than 2. bending takes place along shorter span i. e shorter
dimension. load is taken by the 2 long walls only.

2 way slab: ratio is less than equal to 2. bending takes
place along both directions. loads is transferred through all
the 4 walls.
