Question { RRB, 3984 }

What is the purpose of superheater?

Answer

Super heaters are provided to conver liquid vapours/saturated liquid/saturated vapours to super heated steam
Like in boilers so that the steam can be used to run turbine for performing work

Question { 4716 }

newtonian fluids and non-newtonian

Answer

Fluids which obey Newton's law of viscosity are newyonian fluids while other which doesn't obey are non newtonian fluid.
In other way we can also say that fluids in which dynamic viscosity does not depend on du/dy (u= velocity of fluid layer and y= distance between the two layers of fluid ) are newtonian fliuds and other are non newtonian

Is This Answer Correct ?    0 Yes 0 No

Question { Reddy Labs, 3253 }

Explain proportional limit and elastic limit.

Answer

Elastic and proportional limits are terms used while describing the stress-strain curve
Elastic limit- within elastic limit stress veries directly with strain and curve follow straight line equation ( mx+c=y) .. and then after this the equation obtained is that of a curve (here also as stress  increases /decreases the strain also increases/decreases ) which is y=x^2
Limit upto which curve follow straight line equation is proportional limit
Elastic limit begins with proportional limit and ends where curve equation ends (consist of both straight line equation+ equation of curve)

Is This Answer Correct ?    6 Yes 1 No

Question { Reddy Labs, 14665 }

What is the difference. between shearing and tearing

Answer

Shearing- occurs when shear force is acting... which acts along the surface such that entire surface  is affected by its action
While tearing is similar to paper tearing in which tensile force is acting which leads to tearing of paper from somewhere in the middle along the entire length... it can be seen when u hold a bread slice and apply force from ur hands from two opposite sides u will find the bread slice tears into 2 pieces.. this is tearing .
