No preference shareholders donot have the right to vote.
But in two circumstences they have voting right .
1.Reduction of Share capital.
2.cumilative preference dividend not paid in last 2
consecutive years.
The both 2 situations they have right to vote...in accoring
to the comp's Act 1956.

No, Voting rights except in exceptional circumstances as
mentioned by Divya.

The basic difference between equity & preference shareholder
is that :

1. Preference of Paying Dividend : preference share holder
has preference of receiving dividend in the event any
decision regarding payment of dividend is taken i.e before
pronouncing dividend to equity shareholder co is required to
announce or declare dividend to preference shareholder

2. Preference of Repayment of Capital amount : As per Co's
Act no company can issue irredeemable preference share but
this is not in case of equity shares.

And also in case of winding up of the Co. preference
shareholders are given preference over equity shareholder
while repaying the capital sum invested by them in the form
of preference share capital.

The preferance share holder can vote only a specific
circumstances. The preferance shareholder having right only
the repayment of capital & fixed rate of divident.
They do not having normal voting right as compair to Equity
shareholder

Equity shareholder are the real owner of the company. so
they will enjoy all voting rights in company

And the difference is that Equity shareholders are the
owners of the conpany plus they have the right to vote,
whereas preference shareholders has the preference of dividend.
