If y/x = 1/3 and x + 2y = 10, then x is..

Answer / s.rajendran

Given:
y/x = 1/3
x+2y = 10

Solution:
if y/x = 1/3, then
x = 3y
therefore, 3y + 2y = 10
so, y = 10/5 = 2
substitute y = 2 in x + 2y = 10
therefore, x + 4 = 10
it gives the answer x = 6

x = 6.
