Each side of a rectangle is increased by 100% . How much the percentage of area will be increased ..

Answer / sundaramoorthy

Let the length of the rectangle = l
Let the breadth of the rectangle = b
Then the area of the rectangle(A) = length x Breadth
= l*b
According to the question,
Length = l + 100/100*l
= l+l
= 2l
Breadth = b + 100/100*b
= b+b
= 2b
New Area(A') = length x breadth
= 2l x 2b
= 4lb
= 4A
Increase in area = 4A-A
= 3A
Increase percentage = Increase in amount/Original Amount*100 %
= 3A/A*100 %
= 300%

Therefore area is increased by 300%
