My flight takes of at 2am from a place at 18N 10E and
landed 10 Hrs later at a place with coordinates 36N70W.
What is the local time when my plane landed.
a) 6:00 am b) 6:40am c)7:40 d)7:00 e)8:00

Latitudianal difference=(10+70)=80
So, time difference=80X4=320mins=5 hrs 20 mins
Since the place is located towards west
Therefore local time of that place during take off=8:40 p.m.
So, local time during landing=8:40p.m.+10hrs=6:40a.m.

Latitude change = (10 + 70 ) = 80 degrees
1 degree change corresponds to 4 min difference
So total time difference = 80 * 4 = 320 min
= 5 hrs 20 mins
In going from east to west , time decreases
Local time = 2 am + 10 - 5hr 20 min
= 6.40 am

If west to east add time else subtract time so
the longitude difference is (70-10)=60 deg
Every 1 deg longitude is equal to 4 mins....
the change in the angle = 4*60=240 min = 4 hrs
means while moving from east to west we have a loss of 4 hrs
i.e 10 hrs - 4 hrs = 6 hrs
thus we have 2am + 6 = 8am

As we know that 1 deg =4 min.
and latitude change=(10+70)=80(That flight at 2 am making 10 deg with north and after 10 hrs ,it is making 70 deg with north.)
therefore,80 deg=(80*4)mins
=320 mins.
=5hrs 20 mins.
local time difference between source and destination place=5 hrs 20 mins
hence, after 10 hrs ,according to a person ,it should be 12 pm.
but local time at that place=12 pm-5 hrs 20 mins
=6 am 40 mins.

The earth rotates by 360 degree in 24 hours
thus, in 1 hour it rotates by 15 degree
So, the time difference b/n the two places is 80/15 hour
= 5 hour & 20 min
So, at the take off, the time at the destination
=2am - 5 h & 20 min
=8:40 pm
After 10 hours the time will be, 6:40 am

Answer / naveen
The destination place is 80 degree west to the starting
place. Hence the time difference between these two places is
5 hour 20 min. (=24hr*80/360).
When the flight landed, the time at the starting place is 12
noon (2 AM + 10 hours).
Hence, the time at the destination place is 12 noon - 5:20
hours = 6: 40 AM

Latitudianal difference=(10+70)=80
we know 1 deg=4 minute
time difference=80X4=320mins=5 hrs 20 mins
we know the place is located towards west
Therefore local time of that place during take off= (2am-5.20hrs) = 8:40 p.m.
So, local time during landing=8:40p.m.+10hrs
Ans =6:40a.m.
(this is wrong the longitude difference is (70-10)=60 deg)
cos we can't subtract longitude.

Latitude 1=10E
Latitude 2=70W. Since its a sphere it has a total of 180degrees. So the latitudinal difference is
(180-70)+10=120 degrees and time difference will be 8hrs. After 10hrs time in starting place is 12noon then the time in destination will be 4am. Is this right?

Answer / anand
70W -10E= 60
1 DEG = 4 MINS Hence for 60 deg 240 mins
= 4 hrs
Travelling east to west is time loss of 4 hrs from 10 hrs
= net travel = 6
started at 2 am means reaching at 8 am
