A hard disk, also known as a hard drive, is a non-volatile storage device used for long-term data storage in computers. Its primary purpose is to store the operating system, programs, and user files. It consists of one or more disks with magnetic surfaces on which data is stored using the principle of magnetism. Hard drives are slower than RAM but provide large storage capacities.
