Sorry Its not a release it's a "new version" in the above
explanation.
Version Control-Whenever any application came for
modification we consider that as a new version of that
application. We kept our old version and this new version
of application in our database. We use VSS (Version source
System) to manage the verions of application

its a configuration management tool.
its a client server application,generally server is
installed to tha company server and is accessible only byt
he administrator and the client is installed in all the
user systems.all the dev n testing team members are given
the access permissions.
all the configurable items in a specific project are
been stored in this when we need a doc of any sort
regarding the project we login n checkout the doc.testers
are basically allowed only to checkout the docs.only team
lead can checkin after receivin any updated doc.dev can
checkin as well as checkout .

Charan Teja VSS Stands for Visual Source Safe , Yes it's a
Configuration Managment Tool.
Here Mainly 2 terms is there one is Check in & another one
is Check out.
Check in Means what ever changes we made to the coding or
build etc.. that will apply to Main Server.
Check Out Means we will get the latest version of files.
So initially when we are entering in to VSS first time we
have to click on Check out option...to get the latest
Version files . After any modification done by you then
click on Check in that changes will apply to Main Server..

Virtual Sourse Safe...
After complition of all phages From devolopment side
devoloper store the code in devolopment folder of
VSS,Testing team copying code from that folder to testing
folder, after compliting above phages from testing, testers
put the build in base line folder.
It is version contrrole Tool
Mainly useful to devoloper, to storing code and maintains
version
Copying a code from VSS By devoloper is called CHECK-IN
Upload the code in to VSS is called CHECK-OUT.

VSS means VERSION SOURCE SYSTEM.
Whenever application came for modification we consider it
as a new realease. We keep both old and new releases in our
database. We use VSS to managing version of an application.
Basically VSS is managing all the changes in the
application.
