What are interrupts?

What are interrupts?..

Answer / Pankaj Kumar Tripathi

Interrupts are asynchronous events that occur in a computer system, causing the processor to temporarily halt its current task and switch to a different one. Interrupts enable hardware devices to signal the CPU about their status changes or requests for attention. The CPU then resumes handling the interrupted task once the interrupt has been processed.
