Explain heat treatment. Why and how is it done?
Answer / Rajveer
Heat treatment is a thermal processing technique used for altering the physical and mechanical properties of materials. It involves heating a material above its recrystallization temperature, holding it at that temperature for a certain period, and then cooling it at a controlled rate.nThe main objectives of heat treatment are to improve hardness, strength, toughness, wear resistance, and dimensional stability of the material.nCommon heat treatments include annealing, normalizing, hardening (tempering), and quenching.
