Why does a body weigh more at the poles than at the equator?

A body weighs more at the poles than at the equator, because
the earth is not a perfect square, but it is flattened at
the poles. The distance between the equator and the center
of the earth and the poles; therefore the force of
gravitation is more at the poles than at the equator; and so
it weighs more at the poles than equator.

an object is weighed more at the poles due to the earth's shape. earth is more bulged out near the equator and flattened at the poles due to the flattening, the radius is comparatively shorter. we know F=GM1M2/R^2 and here, radius is inversely proportional to the force.

It has been found that acceleration due to gravity is maximum and at the equator is Minimum. So therefore the equator body weight will be decrease and the poles body weight will increase

Since,F=(GMm)÷r^2............(1)
And,F=Mg.........(2)
Comparing 1 and 2 we get.....
g=(Gm)÷r^2....[since mass is constant and it will remain same in both the cases of pole and equator]
Here,m=M......(3)
Therefore we get g is inversely proportional to r.
As earth is flattende from top and wider at centre
Therefore radius of pole is smaller than at centre(equator)
Hence g is more at poles as weight =mg where m is constant.

When the body is at the equator it is subjected to the
force of attraction of the lower and upper hemispheres of
the earth (in opposit directions). The horizontal component
of their forces cancel each other. In the case of poles,
the entire mass of earth acts only towards one direction.
