Overall Expansion: It refers to the change in volume of steam from the point of entrance (inlet) to the point of exit (outlet) in the steam turbine. HP Expansion: It refers to the expansion of steam between high-pressure and intermediate pressure stages in a multi-stage steam turbine. IP Expansion: It refers to the expansion of steam between intermediate pressure and low pressure stages. Axial Shaft: This is the main shaft that runs through the length of the turbine along its axis, with blades attached to it for conversion of steam energy into mechanical work.
